Company overview

HerdDogg builds a livestock-monitoring system that tags each animal with a Bluetooth ear tag, reads its movement and temperature continuously, and surfaces a health or heat alert when an animal drifts from the herd's normal baseline. The ear tags ride on each cow; the DoggHouse, a solar-powered on-property receiver, listens to every tag in range and processes the feed through HerdDogg's algorithm. The initial deployment takes three days: an operator tags the herd, sets up the DoggHouse, and the algorithm establishes a baseline for normal movement and temperature levels across the animals. After that the system runs continuously and pushes alerts up to the HerdDogg platform, accessible by phone or desktop, where the rancher sees the individual cow drifting from baseline before the animal looks obviously sick or in heat. The system targets dairy operations, beef cattle ranching, and heifer development programs where missed estrus cycles or delayed illness detection translate directly into lost reproductive cycles or higher mortality.

HerdDogg sells the deployment as a hardware-as-a-service bundle: the rancher pays a per-animal-per-day fee that covers the ear tag, the DoggHouse receiver, the algorithm, and ongoing access to the cloud platform, rather than buying the hardware upfront. Pricing is less than 8¢ per animal per day, framed as the cost of around-the-clock heat detection and early illness warning for a single animal. Recurring revenue scales linearly with the herd: an operation adding a hundred incremental cows pays a hundred incremental per-day fees rather than financing additional hardware capex. The model lets smaller dairies and ranches add the platform without the upfront purchase that would otherwise gate adoption.
