Company overview

AIM Intelligent Machines builds an embodied AI platform that retrofits onto bulldozers, excavators, and other earthmoving equipment regardless of manufacturer, age, or size, turning operator-driven machines into autonomous fleet members without disturbing the OEM warranty. The platform installs as a sensor-and-edge-compute module called AIMWare on each customer-owned machine. AIMWare provides 360-degree perception around the host equipment and runs the autonomy stack on board, with onboard fault detection that runs many times per second. The same retrofit hardware feeds two software tiers: AI Analytics, which streams terrain, operator-action, and machine-performance data into a secure web dashboard, and AI Analytics plus AI Operations, which hands control of the machine to the platform so a single ground supervisor can manage an entire site by giving high-level commands like dropping a grade by twelve feet. Removing the operator from the cab is the explicit safety thesis: AIM-enabled fleets create what the company calls zero-entry sites where no person is on or near the machine while it works. The system is also designed for sites without GPS or internet coverage and runs across a wide range of weather conditions.

Customers do not buy or lease the underlying earthmovers from AIM; they retrofit machines they already own. The commercial model runs as a hybrid hardware-and-software arrangement against each AIMWare unit installed on a vehicle. The Order Form names a Subscription Term and one of two engagement levels, AI Analytics for telemetry and dashboard access, or AI Analytics plus AI Operations for full autonomous control. A de-installation fee per AIMWare unit is documented in the Platform Service Terms. On top of the subscription, AIM takes a portion of the additional value each retrofitted machine generates per year, the value-share layer CEO Adam Sadilek described in interviews. The recurring economics scale with the number of retrofitted machines and with how aggressively each customer activates the autonomy tier.

"Site and asset managers have already invested millions to billions in heavy machinery fleets. Just one of these machines often costs more than $1 million and has a long operating life," says Adam Sadilek, Founder and CEO at AIM Intelligent Machines. "So it's just not feasible nor sustainable to replace entire fleets with new machines to go autonomous. Our retrofit-first approach addresses hundreds of thousands of these legacy machines in operation around the globe."
